It occured to me the other day that there is no ranking of the top Canadian marketing blogs, along the lines of Mack Collier's Top 25 Marketing Blogs or ToddAnd's Power 150. Of course, both of those lists carry Canadian blogs, but no one (that I could find) has ever compiled a Canadian-only ranking. Which is a shame, because there is some great Canadian discussions going on out there. So I've taken a stab at it.
First a word about methodology. While Mack uses Technorati ratings to compile his list, Todd uses a formula using Technorati combined with Bloglines subscribers, Google page ranking, and a subjective rating for quality of content (see his site for more details). I've adapted Todd's scoring system, omitting the subjective score. Unfortunately Bloglines is a blunt way to measure feeds - if you have multiple feeds then Bloglines only reports the one with the most subscribers, and of course it doesn't count all of the people who subscribe through other RSS channels (e.g. we have 55 Bloglines subscribers, but 456 total feed subscribers). But I can't think of better publicly available way to measure subscribers.
For my own sanity I've capped the list at the top 20. I've done my best to be thorough, but if you have a blog to suggest that you think should be in the top 20, leave a comment below or send me an email (see the about page) and we'll do the math and see where it fits. And I'll update this periodically (but not too regularly).
Now, without further ado, your first ever Canadian Marketing Blog Rankings (hey, somebody want to design a logo?). Congrats to everyone who made the list.
